His on-field prowess transcended all boundaries, making him one of the most dominant postseason hitters.

During his acceptance speech, the former Puerto Rican player took the opportunity to address the Mets fans: “To the Mets fans, thank you for believing in me. You challenged me, you let me know when I needed to improve, and that was many times. I had to listen to those boos, but I also appreciate your support along the way.”

For his part, Andruw Jones completed his rise after nine years on the ballot, obtaining 78.4% of the vote (333 votes). The narrative around Jones took a decisive turn thanks to the modern analysis of sabermetrics.

“It is an honor to be the first from Curaçao to be included in the Hall of Fame,” he expressed with great pride while recounting his speech to the public in Cooperstown.

The Curaçao native won 10 consecutive Gold Gloves in center field with the Atlanta Braves. The deep positioning he possessed, the immediate reading of the hit and his impeccable routes neutralized extra-base hits for a full decade, complemented by 434 career home runs.

In the official BBWAA results (where a minimum of 75% or 319 votes was required), Carlos Beltrán (84.2%) and Andruw Jones (78.4%) led the selection. Meanwhile, candidates such as Chase Utley (59.1%), Andy Pettitte (48.5%), and Félix Hernández (46.1%) maintained considerable support on the ballots.

The trio of inductees is completed by Jeff Kent, elected by the Contemporary Era Committee with 14 of the 16 possible votes (87.5%). Kent's inclusion settles a historical debt with the all-time home run leader in second base.

Jeff Kent hit 351 of his 377 home runs playing second base, surpassing legends of the position such as Rogers Hornsby and Alfonso Soriano. Despite not having the most flashy defensive profile, his agility in driving in runs in the heart of the San Francisco Giants' batting order earned him the National League MVP in 2000.

During the event, Jeff Kent took the opportunity to express his appreciation to his former Giants manager, Dusty Baker: “The team wasn’t complete without a leader, and I had the best one there was.”

The formal induction ceremony, held at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown (starting at 1:30 PM ET), immortalized these three exceptional careers and set the stage for the upcoming BBWAA voting, where players like Chase Utley and Venezuelan Félix Hernández continue their steady rise.
