The Dominican player had another powerful day with two home runs, bringing his season total to 32, and continues to solidify his position among the young stars of MLB.
Junior Caminero shone with two home runs against the Colorado Rockies, broke an Evan Longoria record among players under 24 years old in Tampa Bay Rays, tied another historic franchise record and reached 32 HR and 69 RBI in MLB 2026.
One of the brightest stars of the 2026 MLB season continues to be Junior Caminero. The Dominican third baseman once again showcased his power on Monday, August 3, launching two home runs against the Colorado Rockies. The performance helped him set a new franchise record for the most multi-homer games by a Tampa Bay Rays player before turning 24 years old.
Coors Field served as the perfect stage for Caminero's latest power display. In the top of the first inning, he took Michael Lorenzen deep with a two-run homer that traveled 422 feet with an exit velocity of 109.1 mph, giving Tampa Bay an early 2-0 lead.
However, Caminero was far from finished. After the Rays extended their advantage to 8-1 in the fourth inning, the young infielder looked to add even more offense.
With two outs and the bases empty, the Rays' No. 13 hitter crushed an 88.2 mph slider from reliever Tanner Gordon, sending it over the left-field wall at 112.4 mph off the bat and an estimated 442 feet.
Junior Caminero surpasses Evan Longoria
The Dominican's two blasts were not only his 31st and 32nd home runs of the season. They also gave him seven career multi-homer games, allowing him to surpass Evan Longoria, who previously held the franchise record with six multi-homer games by a Rays player before the age of 24, according to Stathead.
